RRx-001 is a very versatile small molecule.
Clinically, it is used as an anticancer, anti-mucositis, and anti-endometriosis agent. Preclinically, it has also been used to treat a whole host of other diseases and conditions, among them, stroke, myocardial infarction, heart failure, kidney disease, fatty liver, atherosclerosis, pulmonary hypertension, pulmonary fibrosis, malaria, sepsis, acute radiation syndrome, ischemia-reperfusion injury, and hemorrhagic shock.
A much-simplified mechanism, previously promulgated in a post entitled, “Mechanism X Factor”, is reprised here semi-seriously i.e., somewhat tongue-in-cheek given that the list of diseases against which RRx-001 (nibrozetone) has shown activity is truly impressive to say the least.
