You’re entering the Spin City Zone!

We wish accomplished actor, caring philanthropist, and genuine inspiration, the one the only, #MichaelJFox, born on June 9th, 1961, a Happy Belated Birthday! 🎂

His foundation, the Michael J. Fox Foundation (MJFF), which he established in 2000 after having been diagnosed with Parkinson’s in 1991, has raised over $2 billion, which according to Wikipedia, makes it the largest nonprofit funder of Parkinson’s research in the world. Also according to Wikipedia, in 2022 MJFF funded more Parkinson’s Disease (PD) research than the US government.

As a recipient of MJFF’s Therapeutic Pipeline Program to evaluate lead small molecule and NLRP3 inflammasome inhibitor, RRx-001 (nibrozetone) in Parkinson’s Disease, we work hand-in-glove with key collaborator, Dr. Richard Gordon, who leads the translational neuroscience program at The Queensland University of Technology Centre for Microbiome Research (CMR) within the Translational Research Institute (TRI) in Brisbane, Australia.

To paraphrase the hopeful MJFF tagline, team members from EpicentRx and Dr. Gordon’s lab plan to be here…until Parkinson’s isn’t.

Fingers crossed 🤞 – that would undoubtedly be the best present of all not only for Michael J. Fox and his family, but also for PD patients around the world who, like MJFF, are waiting desperately for – Hello, McFly – disease modifying or potentially curative treatment options!
